The model contest first place for Steam Loco went to Jeff Johnston for his painted, weathered and detailed HO scale 2-4-4-2 by Powerhouse Limited.

Gary Durr’s nicely finished HO scale diesel and slug unit took first place in the Non-Steam Loco class.

Larry Winters’ kitbashed On30 fuel car took first place in Rail Equipment. The car showed Larry’s usual touch of craftsmanship and artistic eye.

Phil Holden took both first and second places in the Speeder class. This clean scratchbuilt HO scale model is his first-place winner.

This slick little O scale gas-powered donkey by Larry Winters took first place in the Donkey class.

Nick Lehrbach’s kitbashed HO scale Logging Supply House took first place in the Structure category.

A photo can’t do justice to Tom Beaton’s delightful O scale first-place winner in the Mini Diorama class. The model is housed in a large cardboard tube and combines detailed model work with a serious artists’ eye for design. This model also took our first annual Timber Times Memorial Award.

This HO scale sinker derrick at the Sugar Pine Lumber Company’s Pinedale, CA mill was scratchbuilt by Jeff Johnston and took first place in the Non-Rail Equipment class.

A prototype Sherman-tank-based loader was the inspiration for Larry Winters’ beautiful scratchbuilt O scale model that took first place in the Tracked Machine class.

Pete Replinger’s HO scale 2-8-2T was skillfully kitbashed from a brass NWSL 0-8-0 mechanism, an MDC boiler/body and other components into a fine looking model of Simpson #2. It took third place in the Steam Loco class.
